The Town

One of the most unique attractions of Playa Carmen, Santa Teresa, and Mal Pais, is the international restaurants. People from all over the world visit this area regularly, or they have moved here, opened businesses, and established themselves as integral members of a global community.
When you go out to eat, you won't be disappointed. We have excellent food from France, Italy, Spain, the United States, Costa Rica, Argentina, Asia, and the Middle East. As you sample our culinary delights, you will hear several different languages and meet people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. If you're a world traveler, this is one of the most fascinating places you'll find.
Playa Carmen is one of three neighboring towns that have a similar feel and flavor. They are all accessible on foot along the beach, or along the road just off the beach. Mal Pais is about ten minutes south of here, and walking north from Playa Carmen, you will arrive at Santa Teresa Beach in ten to fifteen minutes.
The road just off the beach connects all three towns. It's a narrow paved road with parts that are dirt. Both side of the street are sprinkled with restaurants, shops, hotels, apartments, and various activity-vendors. Be careful walking along this two-way street. It is sometimes crowded with motorcycles, cars, service vehicles, and pedestrians.
