No matter what, this mile or so of coastline, located on the Pacific side of the Nicoya Peninsula, offers one of the most extraordinary beach-experiences in Costa Rica.

Enjoy the surf at any time of the day. Wait for low tide and explore tide pools, take a long walk, collect rocks and shells, and observe sea-life. The jungle is the backdrop of these gorgeous beaches, and they are full of parakeets, butterflies, howler monkeys, and iguanas.

Hanging out at sunset is a popular custom here. Families, surfers, locals, and tourists of all ages flock to the lapping waves, enchanting colors, and the warm and friendly social scene.

A handful of hotels right on the water have happy hour prices, music, comfortable lounging, volleyball, soccer, and special food offerings. Walking vendors  offer their creations, from jewelry to food to clothing.
